Currently, as the development of energy utilization technology advances and efficient heat recovery is performed, the temperature of gas discharged from stacks tends to drop below the acid dew point. Since sulfur oxide (SOx) content in gas condenses and becomes a strong acid, corrosion-resistant linings are indispensable inside stacks.

Deterioration of anti-corrosive layers (linings, bricks) of steel or concrete stacks advances over time due to SOx content. Accordingly, durability and earthquake resistance of a structure itself decreases. Inserting corrosion-resistant material such as an FRP stack shell or stainless-steel stack shell into an RC stack enables a maintenance-free structure, which allows life-cycle costs to be reduced.
The life span of stacks varies depending on the management method. Therefore, it becomes a key point of stack management to grasp secular changes on a long-term basis. We conduct diagnosis on the information acquired by prompt inspections and prepare reconstruction plans.
With regard to stack lining specifications, optimum materials and construction methods are determined in consideration of exhaust gas conditions, operating conditions and stack configurations.
