Meisei Group Human Rights Policy

The Meisei Group has upheld the principle of respecting human rights in its Corporate Code of Conduct established in 2008. This Policy articulates the Meisei Group’s commitment to human rights and has been formulated in accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. In line with this Policy, the Meisei Group will continue to conduct its business activities responsibly and fulfill its obligation.

  1. Scope of Application
    This policy applies to all officers and employees of the Meisei Group (including secondees and temporary staff).
    We also encourage our supply chain partners to support this policy and work together to promote respect for human rights.
  2. Compliance with International Standards and Laws
    The Meisei Group supports and respects the International Bill of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
    We comply with the applicable laws, international rules, and social norms of the countries and regions where we operate. When discrepancies arise between internationally recognized human rights standards and local laws, we will pursue ways to respect internationally accepted human rights principles.
  3. Respect for Human Rights
    The Meisei Group addresses the following human rights issues in its business activities:
    (i)We fulfill our responsibility to respect basic human rights by avoiding infringements on the rights of others and eliminating or minimizing negative impacts on human rights.
    (ii)We respect diversity and inclusion and do not engage in discrimination or harassment based on religion, beliefs, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity, birth, or any other status.
    (iii)We recognize the importance of protecting privacy and do not engage in harassment, discrimination, or other violations of human rights.
    (iv)We strictly prohibit child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking. We do not tolerate human rights violations against foreign workers, including technical intern trainees, or against Indigenous peoples. (v)We strive to maintain and improve a safe, hygienic, and healthy working environment.
    (vi)We comply with statutory minimum wage requirements and endeavor to provide a living wage that enables employees to lead a healthy and culturally fulfilling life. We do not make unjust wage deductions.
    (vii)We respect freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, and we uphold the rights of workers.
  4. Human Rights Due Diligence
    To fulfill our responsibility to respect human rights, we establish and continuously implement a human rights due diligence framework. Through this process, we identify potential negative human rights impacts related to our business activities and take appropriate preventive and mitigating measures on an ongoing basis.
  5. Remedy and Corrective Action
    If it becomes evident that the Meisei Group has caused or contributed to adverse human rights impacts, we will promptly pursue appropriate measures for remediation and correction.
  6. Education and Training
    The Meisei Group provides appropriate education and training to all officers and employees to ensure that this policy is embedded throughout our business operations.
  7. Information Disclosure
    We will disclose the progress and outcomes of our human rights initiatives based on this policy to external stakeholders.
